Bailey Kennedy Celebrates Cristo Rey Students at Annual “Taco ‘Bout It” Presentation

Bailey Kennedy, LLP recently celebrated Cristo Rey St. Viator College Preparatory High School students for the school’s annual “Taco ‘Bout It” presentation—an event that serves as a capstone project for students participating in the Corporate Work Study Program(CWSP). The students utilized the presentation to showcase the skills they learned while working at Bailey Kennedy.

Members of the Bailey Kennedy team attended the event to support the students and recognize their efforts. From developing clerical skills to learning office culture, students reflected on how the experience helped them grow professionally and personally.

Bailey Kennedy has partnered with Cristo Rey St. Viator since the school opened in 2019. Each year, the firm welcomes a team of four to five students who rotate one day a week, collectively filling the equivalent of a full-time, entry-level position. The firm’s goal is to equip students with practical workplace experience and skills they can carry into college and beyond.

Cristo Rey St. Viator, located in North Las Vegas, is the first school of its kind in Nevada. The Cristo Rey education model, founded in 1996, serves students from families with limited financial resources by combining rigorous academics with meaningful corporate work experience. Through the CWSP, students earn a large portion of their tuition while building valuable skills in professional environments.

Bailey Kennedy is preparing to welcome its next team of student interns for the 2025–2026 school year as it continues its commitment to mentorship and workforce development.

From Our Family to Yours: A Holiday Giving Tradition

At Bailey Kennedy, we strive to make each holiday season brighter for local families in need. Through our long-standing partnership with the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada, we participate in Candlelighter’s “Adopt a Family” program, which helps families whose children are battling cancer.

In our 15th consecutive year of participating, this program receives a full 100% participation rate from our team. Every employee participates in one way or another, whether it is shopping, donating or wrapping gifts.

We begin our shopping efforts around Thanksgiving to pick out thoughtful gifts tailored to the specific needs and wishes of the families we have “adopted” for the holiday season.

After shopping for the families’ wish lists-which include items ranging from toys and games to household goods and essentials-our team members carefully wrap each gift before giving them to the families.

The goal of the “Adopt a Family” program is to alleviate some of the emotional and financial strains that families endure during the holidays, especially those with children undergoing cancer treatment. By providing gifts and support, Candlelighters help bring a sense of normalcy during this difficult time, allowing families to focus on creating happy memories for their children.

It’s a tradition that our firm looks forward to each year and one that’s made possible by the generosity of the firm’s staff. Giving back to the community is something that we value and enjoy spreading Christmas cheer during the holiday season.

Candlelighters has been a vital part of the Las Vegas community for over 40 years, supporting families of children with cancer and offering services to around 400 families and 1,800 children annually. Children from birth to 21 years of age who have been diagnosed or survived cancer are eligible for services if treated or living in Nevada. A Happy Holidays for Two Special Families

LAS VEGAS, NV (December 27, 2023) For fourteen years, Bailey Kennedy, LLP has participated in the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada’s “Adopt a Family” program. Starting with the Thanksgiving holiday, Bailey Kennedy employees search online and out in-stores to select the best gifts according to the needs and requests of the two adopted families. Staff then wrap the gifts that would later be presented to the families.

The “Adopt a Family” program was created in hopes of assisting families whose child have been diagnosed with cancer to help alleviate both financial and emotional stress that the holiday season may bring to a family. Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada is a non-profit agency that has been providing support and services for families of children diagnosed with cancer for over 40 years. Candlelighters serve approximately 400 families and 1,800 children, both siblings and diagnosed children throughout the year in Nevada. Children from birth to 21 years of age who have been diagnosed or survived cancer are eligible for services if treated or living in Nevada.
